Wednesday 10am to 1pm for both members and general public.

WIA - The Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club is affiliated with the Wireless Institute of Australia. The WIA provides Club insurance coverage and is the amateur's representative body to the licensing authority - Australian Communications and Media Authority. Members are encouraged to consider membership of the WIA. More information is available from the WIA.


Amateur Radio - Amateur Radio is Licensed Radiocommunications Experimentation. There are 3 levels of licensing: Foundation (Entry Level), Standard and Advanced. The licensing authority is Australian Communications and Media Authority. Administration of the assessment process is provided by the Wireless Institute of Australia on behalf of the Australian Communications and Media Authority through affiliated amateur radio clubs and their Assessors and Learning Facilitators.

The Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club provides training and Licence Assessment courses for all 3 levels of licensing. If you wish to find out more about entering the fascinating world of amateur radio and gaining the required licence, contact Suitable arrangements can then be made.


The Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club began as the Midland Zone of the Wireless Institute of Australia, Victorian Division and serves the Bendigo/Castlemaine area of Central Victoria. An active club that promotes the hobby of amateur radio locally and provides training and assistance for anyone interested in qualifying as a radio amateur.

Membership:

Membership is not restricted to licensed radio amateurs. Any amateurs, short wave listeners or persons with an interest in radiocommunications, electronics or related pursuits are welcome. Current membership costs,

Club activities:

* Monthly meetings - with a technical discussion or presentation wherever possible.

* Organizes site visits, social functions and the like.

* Produces information for members through the Club newsletter, on-air nets and this web site.

* Maintains a local repeater (see repeater page).

* Field days and technical demonstrations.

* Electronic Theory classes for prospective amateurs.

* Electronic workshops for children.

Club On-air Nets:

* 80m - 3.655MHz, LSB +/- Thursday evenings at 8pm local time. May change to 8.30pm local time during daylight saving.

* 2m - VK3RCV repeater 147.150MHz FM Tuesday evenings at 8pm local time. Time does not change for daylight saving.
