Contesting (also known as radiosport)
This may be a relatively new club activity and this will hopefully cover some of the perceived benefits. These are just some thoughts put together in a hurry. All feed back is welcomed to vk3era@barec.net.au

Some Objectives of contesting
Competing in a contest as a club
- Even though contest competition can be intense, it isn’t always about winning. We may never win the top slot in a contest, but you’ll definitely enjoy the competition and the camaraderie
- Winning is relative. For the Trans Tasman in 2018, finishing within the top 30 in our category would be classed as a win
- Winning will also be getting most of the activities below to become reality
- If your not a net type of person contesting is one way to get on the air without having to be a good conversationalist.
- In a contest everone wants to talk to you. They need your QSO
- Long QSO's don't win contests
- It is an aim in future to get an antenna design group together to design build test and use a different antenna for each contest
- Sharing and learming new operating techniques
- Contesting as a club requires many hands in different areas
- In a HF contest antenna height is paramount. By designing ways to support antennas, both in the field and at home you could be a huge part of a contest
- Emphasis on the fun. The rest will follow
